ESL Shipping Adds New Hybrid Green Coaster to Fleet

Shipping firm ESL Shipping has taken delivery of the 12th and final 5,400 DWT plug-in hybrid Green Coaster.
Built by Chowgule and Company in India, Luxomar was handed over on Tuesday and will soon begin its maiden voyage to Europe, the company said in a press release on Tuesday.
The vessel features battery hybrid technology, shore power connectivity and an optimised design aimed at improving efficiency and reducing emissions.
The Green Coasters are ice class 1A and can operate year-round in the Northern Baltic Sea.
The series forms part of ESL Shipping’s broader investment programme, alongside its Green Handy vessels, to strengthen low-emission marine logistics in Northern Europe.
