Exxon Mobil Corporation (ExxonMobil) today announced the launch of Mobil Serv, a new technology platform intended to provide end-to-end lubrication solutions for the marine industry with a streamlined user experience.

Specifically, the service is aimed at helping customers optimise lubricant consumption, maintenance programs, vessel reliability, and reduce overall operating costs.

"The launch highlights ExxonMobil’s commitment to helping customers gain critical insights and achieve efficiencies," said the company.

The Mobil Serv brand will include Mobil Serv Lubricant Analysis, which will replace Signum Oil Analysis.

Some of the services under the Mobil Serv brand will also incorporate cloud computing and big data to offer customers a platform intended to deliver value through information and trend analysis.

"The industry is facing a number of challenges, and Mobil Serv can help our customers respond," said Iain White, Global Marketing Manager at ExxonMobil Marine.

"Many of our next-generation services build on new technology with an easy-to-use platform that will enable operators to gain deeper insights and help drive crucial efficiencies within their business."

As Ship & Bunker reported yesterday, White has said that shipping and the marine fuels industry are facing "unprecedented" change in the shape of the 2020 deadline for the introduction of low sulfur marine fuels.
