Corvus Energy Battery System Gets DNV Approval
Corvus Energy’s Blue Whale NxtGen Energy battery system has received type approval from DNV in air-cooled and liquid-cooled configurations.
The approval confirms the system meets DNV requirements for safety, quality and performance.
The company added the system is designed for large electric and hybrid vessels, including ferries, RoPax vessels, cruise ships and offshore vessels.
The Blue Whale NxtGen Energy uses lithium iron phosphate battery chemistry and a rack-free modular architecture designed for large-scale installations.
Corvus said the system can support multi-MWh applications while making efficient use of onboard space.
“Type Approval for Blue Whale NxtGen Energy is an important milestone for Corvus Energy and for the maritime industry's transition to low- and zero-emission operations,” Thor Humerfelt, Head of Product Innovation at Corvus Energy, said.
Humerfelt said Corvus had already secured more than 100 MWh in confirmed orders for the system.
