OW Bunker today said in an emailed press release it has launched a "significant" large-scale recruitment drive to attract new employees for its expanding North American operation.

"With bunkers accounting for the majority of a vessel's operating costs, in conjunction with continued environmental and economic pressures, ship owners and operators need advanced fuel procurement solutions to meet the increasingly complex challenges that they now face," says Adrian Tolson, Regional Manager, OW Bunker North America.

"At OW Bunker, we believe that this requires our employees to think differently about how they solve our customers' challenges in line with the changing dynamics of the shipping industry. "

"We are therefore looking for individuals not just with experience of bunkering, but from the entire shipping industry who can bring their specific experience, know-how and skill-sets to further help our customers maximise their competitive advantage."

OW Bunker says it has also launched the OW Bunker Academy, a comprehensive training programme that focuses on developing core competencies in line with the company's values, as well as integrating new employees from both inside and outside of the industry into the organisation.

The supplier last week said it will supply products at Houston's Battleground Oil Specialty Terminal (BOSTCO) under a new deal with UNIPEC America.
