Japan-based Eco Marine Power Co. Ltd. (EMP) Wednesday announced that it has signed a sales and support agreement with Canada-based Jastram Technologies Ltd. (Jastram Technologies).

The agreement, which covers sales, marketing and technical support, is said to make way for EMP to begin offering a range of products and services to the Canadian shipping and offshore sector.

"This agreement with Jastram Technologies is of particular significance for Eco Marine Power as it is our first formal move into the North American market," said Greg Atkinson, Chief Technology Officer at EMP.

"We are honoured that Jastram Technologies have chosen to work with us and we look forward to co-operating closely with them."

With a number of offices located across Canada, EMP says Jastram Technologies is ideally situated to facilitate the introduction of new products within the country, including Aquarius Marine Solar Power and the Aquarius Management and Automation System.

EMP says that, in cooperation with Jastram Technologies, it is set introduce a number of energy storage solutions based on Furukawa Battery Co., Ltd. (Furukawa Battery) products, including the Furukawa Cycle Power (FCP) and UB-50-12 battery technologies, to Canada's maritime market.

"Jastram technologies is very proud to align with Eco Marine Power," said Warwick Green, President of Jastram Technologies.

"Their highly innovative approach to renewable energies, combined with their strong partners will allow both our companies to offer up alternative solutions to our ever growing customer base."

In October, EMP announced it had been granted a patent in Japan related to its Aquarius Marine Renewable Energy (MRE) System, a wind & solar power propulsion solution for ships.
