  • Petrobras halts bunker deliveries at Rio Grande after storm with winds above 100 km/h
  • Terminal where its bunker barges load is without power
  • No estimate yet for restart, which could be the same day, the next day, or longer

Petrobras has suspended bunker deliveries at Rio Grande in southern Brazil after a storm knocked out power at the terminal where its supply barges are loaded.

A tropical storm hit the city in the early hours of Monday with winds exceeding 100 km/h, causing damage to local infrastructure, the company's bunkering arm said in an emailed notice to customers later the same day.

The Rio Grande Terminal is operating under a temporary suspension because of a power outage, it said.

"At this stage, it is not yet possible to reliably estimate when operations will be able to resume," Petrobras said.

"Therefore, we currently do not have sufficient visibility to confirm whether operations will be restored later today, tomorrow, or whether additional time will be required to recover the infrastructure and resume normal activities."

The company said it was monitoring the situation with the terminal and would update customers once it had a clearer view of when deliveries could restart.

It is not the first weather-related stoppage at the port, where bunkering was previously suspended after severe flooding in the region.
