PetroChina International (Singapore) has acquired its first IMO Type II bunker tanker in Singapore.

The vessel, MT Vanda Pioneer, can handle conventional marine fuels, biofuels and methanol, and is designed to handle two fuel types simultaneously, Alex Ho, general manager for planning & investment at PetroChina International (Singapore), said in a LinkedIn post earlier this week.

“As the alternative marine fuels market continues to evolve, this provides valuable operational flexibility and optionality in serving the changing needs of shipowners,” he added.

“As the third addition to our Vanda bunker tanker fleet, this milestone is particularly meaningful to me.”
“I am proud to have been directly involved in the acquisition of all three vessels, as well as securing our methanol bunkering licence.”

PetroChina was among the companies on Singapore's list of top 10 bunker suppliers for 2025.

The company received a licence from the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) to supply methanol as a marine fuel in 2025. Earlier this year, it also secured an LNG bunkering licence from the MPA.
