SCI Tanker Released in Singapore After a "Small Payment Issue"
Wednesday September 25, 2013
A very large crude carrier (VLCC) owned by the Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) that last Thursday was detained by authorities in Singapore, has been released from arrest, Platts reports.
The Desh Vaibhav had been provisionally chartered by Reliance Industries Ltd.
After its release, it returned to its journey to the Persian Gulf to begin a voyage to Jamnagar, India.
"I think it was a small payment issue [that was settled], and now the vessel will go to Basrah to load Reliance's cargo bound for Sikka," a shipbroker said.
Singapore authorities did not disclose the reason for the ship's detention when it occurred, and an SCI official said it was related to an issue that was "being sorted out."
