Singapore Shipping Corporation Purchases New Pure Car and Truck Carrier

The Singapore Shipping Corporation (SSC) has purchased a new pure car and truck carrier for $80 million, Seatrade Global reports.

According to Singapore-listed SSC, upon delivery the carrier is anticipated to deploy on a long-term charter to a "blue-chip shipping major".

The shipbuilder's name was not disclosed, but SSC, which according to its website currently owns three car carriers ranging in capacity from 5,190 to -7,200 cars, said they will fund the the new carrier through internal resources and bank loans.

In March, two pure car and truck carriers capable of running on LNG fuel were ordered for the Baltic by United European Car Carriers (UECC).
