RINA and PTT to Collaborate on Maritime Decarbonisation
Certification and engineering firm RINA and Thailand’s national energy firm PTT have signed two MoUs to explore collaboration on innovation, sustainability and technology across the energy, industrial and maritime sectors.
The agreements, signed through PTT’s Innovation Institute, will provide a framework for research collaboration, technical cooperation and knowledge sharing, RINA said in an emailed press release yesterday.
RINA and PTT intend to explore areas including alternative and low-carbon fuels, sustainable aviation fuels, vessel electrification, digitalisation, carbon management and hydrogen readiness.
They will also look at cold energy utilisation, including potential applications in data centres and small modular reactors, as well as training initiatives for the maritime and industrial sectors.
RINA Consulting will contribute engineering consultancy expertise, while RINA Services will provide certification, verification, assurance and classification expertise.
“We are honoured to work with PTT and explore opportunities for technical cooperation in areas that are central to the energy transition,” Saverio Scopelliti, commercial executive vice president at RINA Consulting, said.
