Zhoushan Completes First Bonded Bunkering Operation at Majishan
China’s Zhoushan completed its first bonded bunkering operation at the Majishan port area on Monday.
This extends the bunker fuel supply services to all general cargo terminals within the port city, media outlet China Daily reported on Thursday.
The operation took place at Majishan's No. 1 berth, where the bunker barge Dong Fang Zhao Yang 2 supplied 1,113 mt of bunkers to the 180,000-DWT Hong Kong-registered bulk carrier Xin Li Hai alongside cargo operations.
Majishan, a major bulk cargo hub in northern Zhoushan, handled more than 57 million tonnes of cargo and over 250 foreign vessel calls last year.
Regular bunkering services had previously been unavailable due to complex hydrological conditions and limited supply capacity.
The new service allows vessels to complete cargo handling and refuelling during a single port call, improving efficiency and avoiding detours to other ports for bunker supply.
Zhoushan plans to expand regular bunkering operations at Majishan as it continues efforts to strengthen its position as a global bonded marine fuel supply hub.
About 8.03 million mt of bunker fuel was sold in Zhoushan in 2025, up 10.6% on the year.
