An LNG bunkering vessel operated by Japan-based KEYS Bunkering West Japan completed its 100th bunkering operation on October 21, supplying fuel to NYK Line-operated bulk carrier SG Dawn.

Since entering service in April 2024, the KEYS Azalea has supplied LNG to car carriers, bulk carriers transporting iron ore and coal, and cruise ships.

KEYS estimates that the LNG the vessel supplied has reduced CO2 emissions by around 75,000 tonnes compared with heavy fuel oil, based on equivalent energy input.

The milestone follows the 200th bunkering operation by Kaguya, another LNG bunkering vessel operated by NYK Group, in Ise Bay on September 30.

The two vessels support LNG fuel supply in western and eastern Japan, respectively.

KEYS Bunkering West Japan is jointly owned by Kyushu Electric Power, NYK Line, ITOCHU ENEX and Saibu Gas.
