Bunker operations "Filmed" by Patrol Boats off Gibraltar
Officials from Britain are set to add to their complaints to the Spanish Government following several incidents involving Guardia Civil patrol boats and bunkering vessels off Gibraltar, the Gibraltar Chronicle reports.
The patrol boats were reported to have been lingering close to merchant ships as they bunkered in the Bay of Gibraltar, and on occasions appeared to be filming and photographing the operations.
"They are deliberately doing this to be noticed," a source said. "It’s an obvious intimidatory tactic."
One such "incursion" that occurred earlier in the month was captured on video.
So far there have been no reports on interference with with any bunkering operations.
The recent developments follow increased tensions between Spain and the United Kingdom over bunkering in the region, which flared last year.
