New Tanker Attack Reported Off Oman
A cargo ship came under attack off the coast of Oman yesterday, according to a British government agency monitoring maritime security in the region.
The incident happened eight nautical miles east of Limah, Oman, at 21:19 UTC on Monday, the UK Maritime Trade Operations agency said in a social media post today.
“A tanker has reported being hit by an unknown projectile on the port side causing a fire, whilst travelling southbound, UKMTO added.
“No casualties or environmental impact reported.”
This is the third vessel attack reported near the Strait of Hormuz since the US and Iran signed a memorandum of understanding to reach a peace deal in 60 days.
Separately, Axios reported, citing two US officials, that Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) fired at least two missiles at commercial ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz on Monday.
