A new ship brokerage firm has recently been launched in St. Petersburg, Russia, the company's founder Evgeniy Dolgikh has told Ship & bunker.

Kalinka Shipbrokers Ltd (Kalinka) is specialising in the sale and purchase of ships including the sale and purchase of second hand vessels, as well as newbuilding contracting, sale for demolition, arrangement of towages, and ship valuations.

"The company prides itself in a specialist knowledge of the niche markets of tugs and bunker tankers, where the brokers enjoy close relationships with the owners and operators worldwide," he said.

Dolgikh explained that he has been acting as an intermediary for the Russian speaking shipowners for many years, buying or selling their ships abroad, and says Kalinka's mission is to bridge the Russian market with the rest of the world.

"In the short term Kalinka aims to become the most renowned Russian ship sale and purchase brokerage. Both for the Russian shipping community and abroad," he said.

"For foreign brokers and owners Kalinka is aiming to become the preferred channel to the Russian market."

Prior to launching Kalinka, Dolgikh says he spent 13 years working as a ship sale and purchase broker in broking houses including Poul Christensen Shipping, UNIGULS Maritime, and CMS Shipping.
