Lubricants Receive Eco Approval
Kluber Lubrication says two of its specialty lubricants have been recognised for meeting environmental standards set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and will carry the European Ecolabel.
"The EU Ecolabel is a label of environmental excellence that is awarded to products and services meeting high environmental standards throughout their life-cycle: from raw material extraction, to production, distribution and disposal," the company said.
The two lubricants, a stern tube oil and a gear oil for thrusters and CPP propulsion units, are now recognised as minimally toxic, biodegradable, and non-bioaccumulating.
"Receiving the certification from the EU Ecolabel program for our gear and stern tube lubricants is significant," says Ben Bryant, marine market manager, Klüber Lubrication North America L.P.
Ecolabel is a voluntary program intended to help customers identify environmentally excellent products, according to its website.
