Global Bunkers & Lubricants supplier BMS United Bunkers Group today announced in an emailed press release it has appointed Mikael Haestrup as Group Sales & Marketing Manager.

“Less than a year into the merger and formation of the BMS United Bunkers Group, we are much further in the process than anticipated and experiencing a demand for cross-group functions, to further grow and support the overall group," said Lars Nielsen, Group Executive Director.

"We have already cemented BMS United Bunkers as one of the top players in the world within our field; build on joint values, with the clear focus to be the best in our industry and provide top quality customer service.

"Due to Mikael’s experience as a trader, as well as his knowledge of traders/employees across the offices, we believe that he has the right background to work across the BMS United Bunkers Group."

Haestrup was said to have been with the Group for almost 8 years and had an active part in developing the Asian market for BMS.

He is based at the Group headquarters in Piraeus, where he moved recently after spending seven months managing the offices in Asia in the initial stage of the merger.

BMS United Bunkes Group has offices in Piraeus, Buenos-Aires, Singapore, Hong-Kong, Dalian, Limassol, and Jakarta, and last year supplied a total of 5.5 million tons of bunkers, it noted.

The group was formed effective June 1, 2014 when BMS Bunkers merged with Singapore headquartered United Bunkering & Trading.
