Alternative Fuels a "Major Topic" at Annual Conference
Alternative fuels will be a major topic at Interferry’s upcoming annual conference, the association said in an emailed press release Thursday.
Future environmental and energy efficiency challenges will also be discussed at this year's event, which are being reviewed by Wärtsilä president & CEO Björn Rosengren, and there are also four papers exploring the latest technology on emissions and efficiencies.
Stena RoRo Managing director Per Westling will explain why the firm is looking to meet SOx and NOx limits in Environmental Control Areas (ECAs) by using methanol, while Anders Ørgård Hansen, managing director of Denmark-based consultancy OSK-ShipTech, will discuss reducing ro-pax emissions and fuel consumption.
The conference will also see South American operator Buquebus have a first opportunity to showcase its LNG newbuild, Francisco.
Delivered in August from Australian builder Incat Tasmania, the 99 meter catamaran is the world's fastest ferry.
Full information on Interferry's conference, which is being held in Malta from October 5-9, are available on their website.
