Shipping firm Sallaum Lines has ordered two more dual-fuel LNG car carriers.

The firm has ordered two 8,600-CEU pure car and truck carriers (PCTCs), with options for two more vessels, from Xiamen Shipbuilding Industry Co, it said in an email statement on Monday.

The ships will be the largest ever commissioned by the company and form part of its ongoing fleet renewal programme.

The newbuilds will be equipped with dual-fuel engines capable of running on LNG or conventional marine fuels.

They will also be built with an ammonia-ready design to allow future conversion to ammonia propulsion.

“With larger capacity, dual-fuel capability, and an ammonia-ready design, these ships give us the flexibility to serve growing market demand while continuing to invest in lower-emission transportation,” Hasan Sallaum, director of Sallaum Lines, said.
