Maersk Line Moves Closer to Hamburg Süd Acquisition with Dr. Oetker Sale Agreement
Hamburg Südamerikanische Dampfschifffahrts-Gesellschaft KG (Hamburg Süd) yesterday announced that its principal, Dr. August Oetker KG (Dr. Oetker), has signed a sale agreement with Maersk Line A/S (Maersk Line).
As Ship & Bunker reported in December, Maersk Line announced that it had reached an agreement with Dr. Oetker for Maersk Line's acquisition of Hamburg Süd.
"We are pleased to inform that, today, the parties have signed a Sale and Purchase Agreement which in the coming weeks will be reviewed and authorised by the respective Supervisory Boards and Shareholder Assemblies between end of April / mid May," stated Dr. Oetker yesterday.
"Subject to the approval by the competent regulatory bodies the Closing may take place at the end of this year."
As previously reported, the deal is expected to fortify the Maersk Line's market presence, particularly in Latin American.
