Peninsula Confirms Tanker Involved in Incident Off Dubai
Marine fuel supplier Peninsula has confirmed that one person has died, and another crew member is missing following an incident involving its vessel at anchorage off Dubai.
The incident involved Hercules Star, the company confirmed on Wednesday.
UKMTO had reported earlier today that a vessel was taking on water following an attack involving an unknown projectile off the coast of the UAE.
“It is with deep sadness and regret that we confirm one fatality,” the company said.
“Peninsula is in contact with their family and providing all the necessary support at this time.”
“In addition, one member of the crew is missing and a specialist team is working to locate them.”
“All other crew members are accounted for.”
The 7,998 DWT tanker is chartered by Peninsula from sister company Hercules Tanker Management.
Hercules Star had also sustained minor damage earlier this year after being hit by an unknown projectile off the coast of UAE.
