Vessel Reportedly Taking on Water After Suspected Attack Off UAE
A vessel was reportedly damaged in an attack off the UAE earlier today, according to a British government agency monitoring maritime security in the region.
The incident was reported by a third party at 24 nautical miles northwest of Port Rashid at 2:48 UTC on Wednesday, the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said in a social media update today.
“The Master of a tanker reports a vessel listing at anchor and possibly taking on water following an attack involving an unknown projectile,” UKMTO added.
“Authorities are investigating.”
“Vessels are advised to transit with caution and report any suspicious activity to UKMTO.”
The incident comes as the US steps up attacks on Iranian tankers in the region. US forces said they attacked five Iranian tankers on Tuesday.
