Container shipping firms ONE, HMM and Yang Ming’s Premier Alliance will return two Asia-North Europe shipping services to the Suez Canal, according to sector specialist Alphaliner.

The change will cover the FE1 Southeast Asia-North Europe service and the IOX/INX Indian Subcontinent-North Europe service, Alphaliner said in an emailed report today.

The FE1 will make the switch with the 8,110 TEU container ship One Continuity, which is due to leave Laem Chabang on October 19.

Its first westbound Suez transit is scheduled for November 9.

The service will operate an 11-week round trip, compared with 13 weeks previously.

The IOX/INX service will also be shortened from 13 weeks to 10 weeks. Its next voyage will begin from Hazira on October 22 aboard the 7,164 TEU One Reliability, with the first westbound Suez passage planned for November 17.

The move comes as more container carriers return to the Red Sea after diverting services around the Cape of Good Hope because of security concerns.

Hapag-Lloyd and Maersk have also resumed Suez Canal transits under their Gemini Cooperation, while CMA CGM has returned to the route on selected services.

MSC also announced a partial return to Suez Canal transits in August.
