Delegates from across the marine fuels industry are gathering in Singapore this week for the 24th Singapore International Bunkering Conference and Exhibition (SIBCON), the world's largest bunkering event.
Held every two years and organised by the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), the conference and exhibition returns to Resorts World Sentosa from October 13-15 after a 2024 edition that drew more than 1,800 participants from over 60 countries.
This year's programme, with more than 80 speakers, is built around the theme "Charting a Resilient Multi-Fuel Future", taking in geopolitics, regulation, digitalisation and decarbonisation as they bear on a market now supplying several fuels at once.
The event opens on Tuesday with a pre-conference symposium covering Singapore's bunkering standards, including the new codes of practice for bunker sampling and LNG bunkering and the technical reference for ammonia bunkering, along with FuelEU compliance, alternative fuel quality and safety, and AI in bunker trading.
The main conference opens on Wednesday with an address from guest of honour Murali Pillai SC, Senior Minister of State at the Ministry of Law and Ministry of Transport, followed by a keynote on energy markets in transition from Aw Kah Peng, Chairman of Shell Companies in Singapore.
Panels on the first day take in geopolitics and the IMO, the fuel market outlook to 2030, the shipowner's fuel decision, conventional fuels and biofuels, fleet transition and retrofits, and digitalisation, before the SIBCON Networking Party closes the day.
Thursday turns to alternative fuels and decarbonisation, with keynotes from Wu Junli, Executive Director of PetroChina International, and Kieran Gallagher, Head of Asia at Vitol.
The event comes with its host port in record form: Singapore sold 56.20 million mt of marine fuel in 2025, an all-time high, according to Ship & Bunker's analysis of MPA data.
Ship & Bunker is a media partner for SIBCON2026 and will be reporting from the event as it unfolds.
