Guangzhou Port Completes First Green Methanol Bunkering at Nansha Terminal
Guangzhou Port in China has completed its first green methanol bunkering operation for an international container ship at the Nansha Port Area.
The bunkering took place on September 28, with the bunkering vessel Daqing 268 transferring the about 300 mt of the fuel to the Cosco Shipping Carnation at Nansha Container Terminal Phase II, according to Guangzhou Port Authority.
The methanol was loaded from the Nansha Hongda Storage Warehouse before being transferred through a ship-to-ship pipeline system.
The operation extends Guangzhou's green methanol bunkering services to both terminals and anchorages.
The port completed its first anchorage-based green methanol bunkering on September 6, when the Daqing 268 supplied 1,021 mt to the Greenfuture.
The Cosco Shipping Carnation is a 16,000 TEU methanol dual-fuel container ship with an 11,000 m3 methanol storage tank.
The vessel has previously bunkered methanol several times at Yantian in China.
