Japan’s Mitsui E&S has completed the commercialisation of its ammonia dual-fuel engines and ammonia fuel supply systems and can now supply them for actual vessels.

The company completed integrated land-based testing of its Mitsui-Everllence ammonia dual-fuel engine and fuel system in February 2026, the firm said in an announcement yesterday.

The tests were witnessed by ClassNK and verified the performance of the engine and fuel supply system.

Mitsui E&S said the testing was completed in line with classification society rules, while NOx certification confirmed compliance with IMO requirements.

The company said it can now supply the systems for actual vessels.

Mitsui E&S is also expanding its fuel supply system testing facilities to support both Everllence- and WinGD-licensed engines and plans to establish a mass-production system as demand for ammonia-fuelled vessels grows.
