USTC Strengthens Board to Continue Growth
Denmark's shipping and bunkering giant A/S United Shipping & Trading Co Ltd. (USTC) has said it is strengthening its organisation with a new board of directors.
According to the emailed press release, despite the slump in the shipping industry, during 2012 the group has grown to be the fourth largest company in Denmark with revenues of some DKK 68 billion ($11.7 billion).
In order to keep growing, USTC says its board requires strengthening in the areas of sales, marketing, and credit management.
"The tasks of the new board include making Bunker Holding into the world’s leading company in the field of oil bunkering and making Uni-Tankers into one of Europe’s leading shipping companies in the small-tank segment," it said.
The board will consist of:
- Lawyer Michael Keldsen who has been chairman of the board for the USTC Group since 1991.
- Vice chair Klaus Nyborg, formerly of Maersk, Torm, and and Hong Kong's Pacific Basin Shipping.
- Former Maersk Line group senior vice president Peter Frederiksen.
- Torben Janholt, previously J. Lauritzen Managing director and chairman of the Danish Shipowners’ Association.
- Per Skovhus, a former Danske Bank executive.
- USTC Group owner Torben Østergaard-Nielsen.
Uni-Tanker’s board also includes shipmaster Henrik N. Andersen.
USTC has more than 900 employees worldwide, according to its website.
