Turkish physical supplier Arkas Bunkering (Arkas) has reported a 53 percent growth in its annual bunker sales for 2015.

As Ship & Bunker reported last week, the latest information from the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA) named Arkas as the port's new top supplier by volume, with 677,001 metric tonnes (mt) sold (584,814 mt fuel oil and 92,187 mt MGO) in 2015, replacing last year's leader OMV Petrol Ofisi.

Arkas said this compared with sales of 443,069 mt for all products in 2014.

"Thus Arkas is not only increasing its own market share but contributing to the growth of the Turkish bunker market. With its sizeable position in the global arena Arkas Bunkering supplies one out of three ships taking on fuel in Turkey," the supplier said.

Looking at 2016, Arkas said it will be "focused on further expansion through its reliable brand perception and competitiveness in the sector."

Last November Ship & Bunker reported Arkas had announced it has taken delivery of Turkey's biggest bunker vessel, the 90 metre long, 4,137 dwt m/t Çeşme.
