Marine fuel supplier Monjasa has welcomed nine new trainees to the 2026 intake of its two-year Monjasa Oil & Shipping Trainee (MOST) programme, the first cohort to include a placement in Japan.

The Denmark-based firm said in a company announcement that the new intake arrives at a time when geopolitics, energy security, and shifting trade flows are reshaping the oil and shipping industries.

Eight of the nine start as traders and one as an operator, with placements in Singapore, Panama, Houston, Dubai, Copenhagen, the firm's Fredericia headquarters, and Tokyo, where Monjasa opened an office last year.

Before enrolling at the Danish Shipping Education in Copenhagen, the group gathered in Denmark for an onboarding weekend.

"At Monjasa, our values come down to something very human: treating people with the same respect and care we hope to receive ourselves," said group HR director Tracy Palm.

"We want colleagues to build strong professional capabilities, but equally in an environment that supports a personal business mindset from the get-go, and we are welcoming a carefully selected batch of new shipping professionals to do just that."

The programme combines the Danish Shipping Education with two rotations across Monjasa's offices in Dubai, Denmark, Panama, Singapore, China, Cyprus, Greece, and the US.

In June the company gave permanent positions to 11 of the 12 trainees from the cohort that had just completed the programme.

A total of 51 trainees have graduated from MOST since it began in 2018.
