Piraeus: Serious Bunker Availability Issues Due to Strike Action
Wednesday February 19, 2014
Bunker fuel supplies in the port of Piraeus are subject to "serious availability issues" due to strike action by refinery workers, local players have warned.
The strikes are understood to be taking place today, and then on February 21, 22, 23, and 24.
"We are not taking enquiries for these days," a local supplier told Ship & Bunker.
Ship & Bunker understands that no formal notice has yet to be given regarding the strikes, but one source said they were expecting further information on the matter in the coming days.
Bunkering at the Greek port was also hit by strike action in November last year, after Labour unions protested against austerity measures and extra taxes with a 24-hour action.
