$1.2B in Further Orders for Scorpio Bulkers

Scorpio Bulkers Inc. [NYSE:SALT] says it has ordered 22 more dry bulk vessels for a total of $1,171 million.

The orders consist of 20 180,000 deadweight tonne (dtw) Capesize vessels and two 82,000 dwt Kamsarmax ships.

Of the Capesize bulkers, the company ordered seven from Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co. Ltd. in China with delivery dates between Q1 2015 and Q3 2016; 11 from Sungdong Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co. Ltd. in South Korea with delivery scheduled from Q2 2015 to Q2 2016; and two from Daewoo Mangalia Heavy Industries S.A. in Romania, with delivery planned in Q1 and Q2 2016.

Both Kamsarmax ships are being built by Hudong-Zhonghua (Group) Co. Ltd of China, with delivery set for Q1 and Q2 2016.

Scorpio Bulkers formed this summer and recently launched its initial public offering.

The new orders bring the company to a total of 74 vessels on order, according to its website.
