Finnish fuel saving firm Eniram Ltd (Eniram) Wednesday announced that it has been selected by Greece-based Springfield Shipping Co. (Springfield Shipping) to provide bunker-saving energy efficiency technology to the shipping company's fleet of very large crude carriers (VLCCs).

"We are very pleased to be working with Eniram and look forward to a productive, long-lasting relationship," stated Springfield Shipping.

"Our investment in a premium energy efficiency system shows the clear determination of the company to promote greener transportation."

Nick Pinkney, Director of LNG & Tankers at Eniram, commenting on the news, said: "we are delighted that Springfield Shipping Co., Greece's leading shipping entity, has decided on the further roll out of Eniram Platform and Eniram Fleet on their vessels."

As Eniram has already been providing business intelligence to Springfield Shipping by way of existing installations, Pinkney says that Eniram is well positioned to help the shipping company save fuel and improve overall energy efficiency of its vessels.

"We see a big opportunity for everybody involved and we are very proud to work with Springfield Shipping, which is a top class company with modern vessels and knowledgeable and experienced personnel," Pinkney concluded.

In October, Eniram announced the release of Eniram Engine, a new tool designed to help owners and operators of LNG Carriers with tri-fuel diesel electric propulsion systems (TFDE) improve fuel efficiency by 2 to 4 percent.
