Kleven Maritime Win LNG PSV Order from Remøy Shipping
Norwegian specialised shipbuilder Kleven Maritime AS has announced it has signed a contract with Remøy Shipping AS to build a liquid natural gas (LNG) powered platform supply vessel (PSV) in a deal worth around NOK 400 million ($66 million).
The deal includes an option to build a second vessel of the same type, which is a VS 4412 DF PSV from Wärtsilä Ship Design, Norway.
"We highly appreciate that Remøy Shipping has chosen Kleven Verft for their latest project," said Ståle Rasmussen, CEO of Kleven Maritime.
"Competition has been really hard this time, and we chose Kleven Maritime because of their long experience and competence when it comes to building LNG powered vessels. That, combined with the good quality they deliver and competitive terms, was decisive," said Per Gunnar Jarnes, Managing Director of Remøy Shipping.
Kleven Maritime also said it had recently been awarded a contract from Statoil to supply three of a total of seven PSV newbuilds for the firm to be used on the Norwegian continental shelf.
"Statoil has specified the most advanced environmentally friendly technology for these vessels, and we very much look forward to working together with Remøy Shipping on the realisation of these fuel effective vessels," said Rasmussen.
Kleven Maritime said they now have 14 vessels in the order book, at a total value of NOK 6.7 billion ($1.1 billion).
