Energy firm Repsol announced it supplied co-processed B30-MGO biofuel to a Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings (NCLH) ship in Barcelona, Spain.

The delivery was part of a long-term agreement between the two companies to support the use of low-carbon marine fuels across NCLH’s fleet, Repsol said in an emailed update on Friday.

Ship & Bunker had reported in October 2025 that the companies had signed an eight-year deal under which Repsol would offer a range of renewable fuels, including biofuels and green methanol, to vessels operated by NCLH brands calling at Barcelona.

The fuel was produced using conventional and renewable feedstocks through Repsol’s co-processing technology.

Co-processed fuels differ from conventional biofuels in the way they are made.

Co-processing integrates renewable feedstocks such as used cooking oil or HVO with fossil fuels in existing refinery processes, producing fully compatible low-emission fuels. By contrast, biofuels are derived from organic matter and are often produced in dedicated biorefineries.

It was delivered by Bahia Candela, Repsol's chartered hybrid bunker vessel, which used its onboard battery system during the transfer to avoid running auxiliary engines and reduce direct emissions.

The hybrid bunker vessel entered service earlier this year.

Repsol also offers co-processed marine fuel at Port of Algeciras.
