OW Bunker Adds Two State-of-the-Art Bunker Vessels
OW Bunker has announced the acquisition of two "state-of-the-art" bunker barges OW Copenhagen and OW Aalborg, built in 2006 and 2005 respectively, which will operate within the Nordic region of Europe.
According to the emailed press release, both of the oil major approved vessels are double-hulled 3,500 dwt tanker barges with a tank capacity of 4,260 m3 and pumping rates of up to 600 m3/hr.
The bunkering vessels are also both fitted with Coriolis mass flow meters for measurement of the volume of fuel delivered.
Prior to the acquisition, OW Bunker operated both vessels on a bare-boat charter from international shipping company the Clipper Group.
Jane Dahl Christensen, Executive Vice President, Physical Division, OW Bunker, commented: "Acquiring these state-of-the-art vessels is testament to our continued commitment to further strengthening our physical supply division in the Nordic region.
"Our focus is on providing our customers with the highest standard fuel supply solution, ensuring quality controlled products, in the right quantity and on the best possible terms."
The physical supplier announced last week it had unified its operations in Northern Europe to create a Nordic Waters operation, and in doing so said it has created "one of the world's largest maritime physical bunkering operations" in terms of area covered.
