OW Bunker Adds Mass Flow Meter in Rotterdam
OW Bunker says it has installed a Coriolis Mass Flow Meter on one of its Rotterdam refuelling barges, becoming the first independent supplier to use the technology in the region.
"Implementing a Coriolis Flow Meter on one of our vessels is an important strategic investment for our physical distribution operation in Rotterdam," said Vincent De Vos, managing director of OW Bunker Netherlands.
"It is a genuine differentiator within the market for a fuel distributor to be able to demonstrate real added value for customers through increased efficiency generation and by ensuring product quantity."
The meter was installed on bunker barge Valsinni, which supplies low sulfur fuel oil (LSFO), and is now undergoing a testing period.
"With fuel accounting for the majority of a vessel's operating costs, it is critical that we are supplied with the right quantity that we have ordered," said Jens Maul Jørgensen, director of bunkers for Oldendorff Carriers, a customer of OW Bunker.
"Clearly technology is the best method to ensure this, and we are pleased to see OW Bunker invest in Coriolis Flow Meters, creating the best possible infrastructure and processes to provide a high quality physical distribution solution."
OW Bunker said in June that Coriolis Flow Meters were installed on over 80 percent of the company's global fleet.
