Aegean Set August 14 for Q2 Results Conference Call and Webcast

International physical bunker supplier Aegean Marine Petroleum Network Inc. (AMPNI) [NYSE:ANW] said today in a press release it plans to hold a conference call to discuss the company's results for the second quarter of 2012 on Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at 8:30 a.m. Eastern Time.

The New York Stock Exchange listed firm says it also plans to issue financial results for the three months ended June 30, 2012 on Monday, August 13, 2012 after the close of market trading.

In Q1, 2012 the firm's gross profit was up some 19% to $76.4 million from $64.2 million during the same period in 2011, despite sales volumes dipping just under 10% to 2,461,230 metric tonnes (mt) from 2,726,237 mt in 2011.

When discussing the results at the time, Chief Financial Officer Spyros Gianniotissaid, "Going forward, we will continue to strengthen our balance sheet as we seek opportunities to increase profitability in our existing locations and further expand our vast network by entering new and attractive markets for the benefit of shareholders."

Following its Q1, 2012 results AMPNI said they sold a single hull bunkering tanker Vera and the Fos, a floating storage facility which netted it $1.1 million in two transactions of a book loss of $4.7 million and cash of approximately $5.8 million.

AMPNI said the sales would save it nearly $5 million per year in operational costs.
