The Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA) and the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) will explore ways to work together on planning, environmental protection, training, research, and other areas under a newly signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), World Maritime News reports.

"The signing of the MOU between MPA and the DMCA is another pillar in reinforcing the bilateral ties between Singapore and the United Arab Emirates, and will provide a framework by which MPA and the DMCA can continue to closely cooperate on maritime issues of mutual interest," said Capt. M Segar, MPA's assistant chief executive for operations.

The MoU was signed during a Dubai delegation's trip to Singapore, which also included a meeting with the Singapore Chambers and the Singapore Maritime Foundation (SMF).

"The signing of the MOU represents another important step forward in our mission to establish Dubai as a global maritime hub," said the DMCA's executive director, Amer Ali.

"Building on our shared experiences and our respective core capabilities, DMCA and MPA have been actively engaged in various discussions and exchange of information that have opened new possibilities for more meaningful cooperation in the future."

DMCA was established in 2007 with the goal of enhancing Duabai's maritime industry, according to its website.
