Railway problems are being blamed for bunker supply problems at Russia's Black Sea port of Novorossiysk, according to a Platts report.

"There is very little product available in the port...only two or three suppliers have some product available," a bunker trader in Novorossiysk said.

"There are still many undelivered volumes due to the disturbance to railways during flooding," they added.

The delays are due to severe flooding in the region in July which claimed the lives of 171 people, mostly in the town of Krymsk approximately 40km North East of the port.

Only small volumes were reported to be reaching the port on rail from refineries in southern Russia due to a backlog,

Infrastructure works for the 2014 winter Olympic Games in Sochi, about 270 km North West of the port, and priority being given to passenger trains were also reported to be adding to the delays.
