Siem Offshore (Siem) of Norway has ordered four dual-fuel platform supply vessels (PSVs), bringing it to a total of six such liquefied natural gas (LNG)-powered vessels, industry news site MarineLog reports.

The four PSVs, using Wärtsilä'x VS 4411 DF design, are being built at Remontowa Shipbuilding S.A. in Poland, with deliveries planned from the third quarter of 2015 through the second quarter of 2016.

Siem said the vessels, which will be 89 metres long with a capacity of 5,500 deadweight tonnes (dwt), also have hull designs intended to reduce fuel consumption and emissions and will be built to meet requirements for operations on the Norwegian Continental Shelf.

Two similar vessels are under construction at Norway's Hellesøy Verft shipyard and Romontowa, with deliveries planned for 2014 and 2015, respectively.

Both of the PSVs under construction are contracted long-term, one with Total E&P Norge AS and the other with AS Norske Shell.

Siem ordered the first dual-fuel PSV in late 2012 and the second in the fall of 2013.
