Ferry Firm Sees 22% Rise in YTD Bunker Bills
Dublin based Irish Continental Group (ICG), whose operations include passenger and freight services between Ireland, the United Kingdom and Continental Europe, says its bunker costs for the first 4 months of 2012 rose 22% to €18.7 million (US $23.44 million).
But non fuel related costs, it said, were down 4.4%, as were Group revenues which were down 1.4% from €78.1 million to €77.0 million (US $96.5 million) for the same period last year.
Volume numbers for cars, RoRo freight, container freight, and terminal lifts were down by an average of 4.6%, with passenger numbers the only gain up 1.4% on the previous year to 427,600.
But ICG noted in its interim report that its business is significantly weighted towards the second half of the year.
