Shore Power Specialist PowerCon Expands into Port Electrification
PowerCon is expanding beyond shore power into broader port electrification, targeting the electrical infrastructure needed for fully electrified terminal operations.
The company’s first focus will be prefabricated substations, alongside its existing shore power and charging solutions, it said in a LinkedIn post yesterday.
Its expanded portfolio will also include battery energy storage, lifecycle services and operational support.
“Port electrification is a natural next step for PowerCon,” Kim B. Larsen, CEO of PowerCon, said.
“We can build on our experience in shore power, our electrical engineering capabilities and our relationships across the maritime industry.”
“Our ambition is to become a trusted long-term partner to ports and terminal operators as they electrify their operations.”
PowerCon said it will provide further details on its port electrification activities in the coming weeks.
PowerCon was recently awarded a shore power contract for Port of Skagen.
The company is part of KK Group, which is owned by A.P. Moller Holding.
