Swiss company Oryx Energies, provider of oil and gas products and services in Africa, says it has named Philippe Evrard as managing director of supply and specialty products and services.

The company says Evrard, the former chartering manager at Totsa Oil Trading (Totsa) in Geneva, will help the company expand its specialty products and services, including liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), lubricants, bitumen, and specialised bunkering.

The appointment was effective March 1, 2013.

"Philippe Evrard brings extensive experience in the oil industry, as well as strong management skills," Jean Claude Gandur, chairman of Oryx Energies' parent company, AOG.

"He will play a key role in ensuring that our growing energy platform continues to respond and adapt to the energy needs of sub-Saharan Africa.

"In particular, he will drive the implementation of a seamless service and quality products for consumers and industry across the region."

Before joining Totsa, Evrard worked for BP Oil International and Elf Trading, and he has a degree in Business Engineering from the University of Mons, Belgium.

"I look forward to helping achieve Oryx Energies' ambitious goals and to taking this dynamic and entrepreneurial company to new heights," Evrard said.

AOG, previously known as Addax and Oryx Group, renamed itself earlier this year as part of a diversification of focus as it moved into real estate and other capital investments while also expanding its downstream energy investments in Africa.
