DNV GL has launched a new service centre in Singapore to enhance the company's customer support, the classification society announced Friday.

The new Singapore Service Centre (SSC) is expected to become the single point of contact for all customers' operational issues, in addition to establishing account managers who will manage client relationships.

The organization also has an existing technical helpdesk called DATE (Direct Access to Technical Experts), which will focus on customers' technical problems.

"By implementing initiatives such as the new SSC and DATE we will help ship owners and operators increase their operational efficiency and safety," said Steen Lund, Regional Manager of South East Asia & Pacific for DNV GL Maritime.

"The opening of the Singapore Service Centre simplifies the entry points into our organization for our customers."

DNV GL added that the SCC would be staffed with experienced Fleet in Service surveyors who will troubleshoot locally and consult DNV GL's global network when necessary.

The centre is currently only available to Singapore clients, though there are plans to expand to other countries in South East Asia in the near future.

Last month, the organization also released its new fuel savings analytic module that measures the effect of propeller and hull fouling on sailing performance.
