A liquefied natural gas (LNG)-powered ferry was forced to turn around after encountering engine trouble while traveling between Norway and Denmark Sunday, Norwegian news outlet NRK reports.

Fjord Line’s new ferry, the MS Stavengerfjord, experienced problems with gas pressure to its engines about 45 minutes after leaving Stavanger, Norway, headed for Hirtshals, Denmark.

It was able to turn around and return to port under its own power but at reduced speed, according to Fjord Line Managing Director Gert Balling.

Fardel said Rolls-Royce, maker of the vessel’s LNG engines, would work with them to try to determine why the problem occurred.

Fjord Line received the Stavengerfjord in July after delays at the Norway’s Bergen Group Fosen shipyard earlier this year.

The vessel and its sister ship the MS Bergensfjord have been called the most environmentally friendly vessels of their kind.
