Swedish ferry operator Stena Line has added a third ro-ro vessel for its route between Killingholme, UK and the Hook of Holland in the Netherlands, industry news site Tradewinds reports.

The 13,000 gross tonne (gt) Stena Scotia began operations today and will serve the route three times a week.

The company added the vessel because the two ships currently operating on the route are full during peak times, and Stena Line predicts more growth in demand from the UK market.

The move comes even as some in the region's ferry industry are warning that the new sulfur limits in European Emissions Control Areas (ECAs) could damage their businesses.

DFDS Seaways recent said a route serving Rosyth, Scotland could be put out of business by the new rules.
