General Dynamics NASSCO says it recently hosted a christening ceremony for Garden State, the third of five 50,000 DWT, liquefied natural gas (LNG) conversion-ready, and fuel efficient ECO Class tankers being built for American Petroleum Tankers (APT).

The vessel, like its sister ships, includes a number of features for improved fuel efficiency, including a G-series MAN ME slow-speed main engine, dual-fuel-capable auxiliary engines, and optimised hull form.

"We are excited to see our third ECO Class tanker, the Garden State, launched and christened," said Rob Kurz, vice president of Kinder Morgan Terminals and president of APT.

"This marks another milestone in the construction process of our five ship program with NASSCO. We thank everyone at NASSCO for their continued support and look forward to adding this impressive vessel to the APT – Kinder Morgan fleet this coming August."

In April, General Dynamics NASSCO hosted a christening ceremony for the second of five sister ships, Magnolia State.
