Maersk, in conjunction with American television channel Discovery Channel, have released a time-lapse video showing the complete construction of a 1,312-foot long Triple-E containership in just 1 minute and 17 seconds.

The video proceeds a six episode Discovery Channel special exploring the entire construction of the Triple-E (named for energy efficiency, economy of scale, and environmentally improved) from the initial steel cutting ceremony to its maiden voyage.

The vessels are being built by Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co., Ltd (DSME) in South Korea.

Maersk Line said recently it plans to launch its first full Asia-Europe service using only Triple-E class containerships by the middle of next year.
