Kosan Crisplant A/S (Kosan Crisplant) Monday announced that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Korea Gas Corporation (KOGAS) that will see the development of liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkering and bunkering facility technologies, including high efficient BOG (boil off gas) treatment and small-scale LNG.

The agreement was signed during a ceremony at the Global Green Growth Forum (3GF) Summit in Copenhagen on Monday.

Under the agreement, the two companies will also work on pilot and demo projects for LNG-fuelled ships, LNG bunkering, and small-scale LNG logistics business using ISO LNG tank container.

"We're honoured that the world's largest LNG buyer and regasification terminal operator, KOGAS, has seen a potential in a co-operation with us," said Kosan Crisplant's CEO, Anders C. Anderson.

"This proves to us that our position as one of the leading European players in the LNG business when it comes to small-scale LNG solutions is justified and that we are a force to be reckoned with."

KOGAS is noted to have recently signed a similar agreement with France-based Total S.A. (Total)

Kosan Crisplant and KOGAS are said to have organised a seminar on LNG bunkering for Tuesday as a way to "strengthen the new bond" through the exchange of ideas, a showcase of existing bunkering concepts, and consideration for future collaborations.

The seminar is said to be set to be include a site visit to Kosan Crisplant's bunkering facility in the harbour of Hou, while Samsø Godstransport ApS (Samsø) shipping line is slated to host a guided tour on Denmark's first domestic, LNG-powered vessel.

In March, Kosan Crisplant, along with the Port of Frederikshavn and Stena Line, announced that they had officially launched the EU financed Nordic Maritime Hub project, which includes the establishment of a bunkering facility for LNG in the port area.
