Soyuz Bunkering Group (SBG) Wednesday announced in an emailed statement it has expanded operations in the ARA region as it moved to address rumours over the group's future.

With immediate effect the supplier has time chartered their 7th bunker delivery barge in ARA, MT Felicia, and have commenced operations in Amsterdam supplying High Sulfur Fuel Oil meeting ISO 8217:2010 specifications.

SBG said the move complimented its existing operations in Rotterdam and Antwerp, giving them full physical ARA coverage. The company can also supply in Flushing and Ghent.

"The setting up of operations in ARA has always been in a controlled manner and this is always where we wanted to get to, so today marks a milestone in our success over the last year," commented Joe Tierney, Bunker Manager, adding that SBG will also add a Gasoil barge in Amsterdam in the very near future.

Last month SBG appointed Simon Gabathuler as its new CEO who noted that there had been "various rumours and speculation" over the group's position, but said it was not closing offices but was undergoing a restructuring that would allow further positive development for the Group.

The group will still keep the offices in Singapore, Rotterdam, Hong Kong, and Dubai, he said, which SBG saw as the platform from which they will build the future of the company.

Chris Todd, Managing Director of SBG in Rotterdam commented: "It's been no secret the group has under gone some changes which led to speculation about the group's future, but the fact is the group is performing well in all areas and as a result our shareholders want to see further growth.

"We have plans to expand to new areas in the very near future and will be looking to recruit key personnel to help us achieve our goals."
